Meet Copey! Your mental health blob.

This is Copey! (get it...bc you cope with mental illness?..totally.) for my project i decided that perhaps having a character be the focal point of representing mental health would help make the subject less dark. I know talking about mental health can be awkward or hard to talk about so maybe a character could help people relate more and look at Copey and be like "yeah thats me!" So I made a character sheet to showcase the range of emotions and some thumbnails of potential pieces.

  1. This is so cute! I love this, and the meaning behind it. You're a great artist, as I feel like this accurately describes what it means to feel like different blobs on different days. Some days I'm a happy blob, and others I feel like a sad and over-worked blob. This week has been especially tough, and this made me smile. I can't wait to draw my own mental health blob later today.... great work!!!

  2. I love them. I like how you stripped everything else away and just focused on what would communicate emotions in the most direct way. Copey is so expressive and flexible. In the scenarios you painted, it is also effective at making the character seem out of place, adding to the discomforted feeling.

  3. Copey was cute when I first saw him and still cute now! I'm excited and nervous to see your progress with this project because poor Copey is going to go through a lot and I'm going to feel so bad. But I guess that is the effect of impactful art.

  4. This seems like it would be a tremendous way to get kids to talk about how they are feeling. Great job.
